As ISMA President for 2009-2010, I encourage you to explore our web site to learn more about our state society, its officers, chapters/districts, seminars, workshops and everything that ISMA offers!

My theme for this year is “Belong, Believe, Become.”

Your professional organization is what you make it.  You can belong and network, mentor, learn, and reap the rewards of membership or you can just belong and be a member.  Belonging is connecting with others in the field.  ISMA is a professional organization that allows you to network with other medical assistants.  You learn new trends, opportunities, and information that you would not have heard otherwise.  If you are a student you have the opportunity to find out more about scholarships, networking and work opportunities.  You have to Belong.

 

Believe-what do you believe that you need from medical assisting?  It can provide a lifetime career that is rewarding!  Administrative, clinical, and laboratory skills enable the medical assistant be the multi-skilled allied health professional working in an ambulatory health facility. You can specialize in a particular area-insurance, billing, collections, clinical, or any other area you like.  Believe in yourself and watch your career grow and expand endlessly!  You must nourish your belief by nourishing your mind and skills with the seminars that ISMA has to offer.  Always believe in what you dream to be!

 

Become-You can become anything you want!! You are the answer to where your career goes.  Do you belong and believe?

 

My mascot for the year is a “bee.”  We have a lot happening with the National Conference for 2011 being held in Indianapolis.  Committees are being formed and information has been gathered for a very educational and a “fun” conference.  We have our workshops associated with the state board meetings and what about all the monthly meetings with educational speakers that are held on a regular basis around the state in each district? 

We are “BUSY BEES”
